28 January 2021 At the beginning of a tenancy, your landlord or letting agent should have provided a tenancy agreement for you to read and sign. The agreement is a contract between you and your landlord which spells out where the parties responsibilities lie. For example, it will say how much rent is due and the condition the property should be returned in at the end of the tenancy.
7 January 2021 This edition of the adjudicator focuses on whether a tenant had caused damage to a property by keeping a cat. The tenant agreed that they did not have permission to keep the cat but argued that there was no damage and no cleaning or pest treatment needed at tenancy end.

16 November 2020 The Dispute Service has released its latest Statistical Briefing for 2019-2020. This annual report includes key information about the growth of the Private Rented Sector and data on tenancy deposit disputes in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
30 October 2020 The Adjudicator takes a recent decision by a Tenancy Deposit Scheme (TDS) Adjudicator and sets out the reasoning behind the decision. The aim of these case studies is to help tenants, landlords and agents better understand how we make our adjudication decisions. The names of the landlords and tenants involved have been removed and this is only a brief summary of the dispute.
